Microbotox: A New Option for Avoiding Brow Malposition in Treating Forehead Wrinkles

DOWNERS GROVE, IL, UNITED STATES, August 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- One of the most common adverse effects of botulinum toxin treatments of the upper face is brow asymmetry. Patients often request treatment of the transverse wrinkles of the forehead. The muscle that controls the position of the brows, and causes the forehead wrinkles is called the frontalis. In some cases, by treating the wrinkles of the forehead with botulinum toxin, the position of the brows can be lowered. This can create an asymmetry in the brows with one brow sitting lower than the other. If the patient has a pre-existing low brow position, this can give an angry appearance to the brows. Microbotox can be used as an alternative to traditional botulinum toxin for treatment of the forehead wrinkles. Microbotox treatment involves use of a more dilute botulinum toxin that is injected in a more superficial depth in a closer distribution on the forehead. This allows for treatment of the forehead wrinkles without completely paralyzing the deeper frontalis muscle which maintains the brow position. Microbotox treatment of the forehead also avoids the ‘frozen forehead’ which can appear very unnatural.
